Are you the type of person who searches for the perfect church? Have you ever encountered a believer who has formed the habit of going from one church to another, often leaving when they find something that doesn’t rise to the level of their personal preferences? They find issues with the leaders, they get hurt by their fellow church members, they don’t like the music, and the preacher never finishes on time. Well… it would be good to remember that there are no perfect assemblies of believers on this side of Heaven. Having said all that, the Bible does speak volumes on how local assemblies and their leaders should function. Titus was a pastor of a difficult group of believers. His church contained people that were lazy, fleshly, ignorant, and dull to spiritual things. In light of their wonderful gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ, the Apostle Paul expected them to rise to the level of their position. Titus was given sound instruction on how to lead his flock as Christ would. There needed to be organized leadership, correction of bad behavior, removal of false teachers, and a return to faithful service for the Lord Jesus Christ. Christian leadership is difficult because the standard is so high. Titus had the position and Paul wanted him to lead by the God-ordained blueprint so that Titus could enjoy Ministry Done Right.
