Will God take care of me?  Few of us are bold enough to express our suspicions with those words, but our lives often betray that we are not absolutely convinced of the certainty that He will.  Though we would never deny that He has provided for our eternal security through Christ we sometimes secretly wonder if He is going to stabilize us for tomorrow.

Elijah's life's story is a great reminder that God allows for circumstantial ups and downs in the pilgrimage of His children.  Quite honestly, we are rarely guaranteed the events of any given day.  God desires for us to gain a firmer grasp on the guarantee of His presence through all of life's upheavals.  Elijah exemplifies for us what it means to be a student in this class of our Master.

Resolute in God's will, the prophet obeys and follows.  Yet his faithfulness seemingly leads him further downward into greater challenges.  God humbles him.  God tests him.  God fuses him until he is virtually blind to his difficulties because his focus is supremely on his God.  For those who are wrestling with the tension between an assuredly good and gracious God and the fact life has become tenaciously unpredictable this message serves to encourage you.  You can trust Him.  He is working out a plan more glorious than you can imagine.  He's answering prayers that you've forgotten you ever prayed.  He's allowing you the purity you've craved since coming to Him.  He's for you - that's a guarantee that keeps you anchored as you follow Him.  Will God take care of me?  You know the answer.
